Isuzu Models Pass 150 With Latest Truck Release

The release of three new model variants as part of its 2013 model year N and F Series upgrades has seen the Isuzu truck range hit 154 models, the most comprehensive range ever offered by IAL, and easily providing the broadest truck model choice in the Australian market.

In the light duty segment, Isuzu has 58 N Series on offer; the selection is even greater for medium duty applications with 64 F Series available.

The FX Series, which covers 10 model variants, was recently joined by nine Isuzu twin steer FY Series trucks, bridging the gap between the standard F Series and the heavy duty Giga C and E Series trucks of which 13 variants are available.

All up the product range sees Isuzu without peer in the breadth of models it can offer Australian truck buyers, whether they require a car-licence ready-to-work vehicle, a B-double capable prime mover, or just about anything in between.

According to IAL Director and COO, Phil Taylor, a broad product range is an important component in keeping existing customers while it also helps attract new ones.

"Isuzu has been particularly successful over many years at identifying niches in the market and introducing models with specifications that go hand-in-hand with customer requirements," Mr Taylor said.

"Our desire to fill as many gaps as possible in the market has seen the Isuzu range expand enormously and it now sits at 154 variants.

"Having a broad product range allows our customers to grow their businesses while maintaining their relationship with our brand," Mr Taylor said.

"Those who have had a good experience with Isuzu will be more likely to choose Isuzu in another weight category if circumstances in their business change, while for prospective customers, the chances are high that Isuzu will have a model to suit their application."

A number of additional Isuzu models have been slated for release later this year.

Ford and GM to Jointly Develop Advanced Nine- and 10-Speed Automatic Transmissions

  • New project to build on success of previous collaborations
  • Initial design and engineering work is already under way
  • New transmissions will improve fuel economy and enhance performance

DEARBORN, Mich., April 15, 2013 – Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation have signed an agreement under which both companies will jointly develop an all-new generation of advanced-technology nine- and 10-speed automatic transmissions for cars, crossovers, SUVs and trucks.

The new transmissions, to be built in both front- and rear-wheel-drive variants, will improve vehicle performance and increase fuel economy.

The collaboration enables both automakers to design, develop, engineer, test, validate and deliver these new transmissions for their vehicles faster and at lower cost than if each company worked independently.

“Engineering teams from GM and Ford have already started initial design work on these new transmissions,” said Jim Lanzon, GM vice president of global transmission engineering. “We expect these new transmissions to raise the standard of technology, performance and quality for our customers while helping drive fuel economy improvements into both companies’ future product portfolios.”

A track record of success
This new agreement marks the third time in the past decade that GM and Ford have collaborated on transmissions. These collaborative efforts have enabled both companies together to deliver more than 8 million durable, high-quality six-speed front-wheel-drive transmissions to customers around the globe.

Ford installs these six-speed transmissions in some of America’s favorite vehicles, such as the Ford Fusion family sedan, the Ford Edge crossover and Ford Escape and Explorer SUVs, while GM installs them into a variety of high-volume, award-winning products such as the Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Traverse, Chevrolet Equinox and Chevrolet Cruze.

That original collaboration served as a template for the new one. As before, each company will manufacture its own transmissions in its own plants with many common components.

“The goal is to keep hardware identical in the Ford and GM transmissions. This will maximize parts commonality and give both companies economy of scale,” said Craig Renneker, Ford’s chief engineer for transmission and driveline component and pre-program engineering. “However, we will each use our own control softwareto ensure that each transmission is carefully matched to the individual brand-specific vehicle DNA for each company.”

“With the jointly developed six-speed automatics we have in production today, we’ve already proven that Ford and GM transmission engineers work extremely well together,” said Joe Bakaj, Ford vice president of powertrain engineering. “Our front-wheel-drive transmissions have exceeded expectations and there is every reason to believe we will have the same success with these all-new transmissions.”

“This agreement provides tremendous benefits for both companies, and it will pay big dividends for our customers and shareholders,” added Lanzon. “By jointly sharing the development of these two new families of transmissions, both GM and Ford will be able to more efficiently use our respective manpower resources to develop additional future advanced transmissions and bring them to market faster than if we worked alone.”

Further technical details and vehicle applications for these transmissions will be released by each company at the appropriate time before launch.

ROUSH CleanTech Announces Production Timing for Ford F-650

Clean, cost-saving alternative fuel option
to fill growing demand for heavier duty platforms

LIVONIA, MICH. (April 15, 2013) The propane industry, food and beverage distributors, logistics companies, tree servicing companies and public utilities are just a few examples of fleets to benefit from the ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas powered Ford F-650 chassis cab fuel system.

ROUSH CleanTech is now taking orders for the new multipurpose Ford F-650 propane autogas fuel system, with production beginning in October.

"Fleet managers operating cylinder delivery trucks, dump trucks, boom cranes, box trucks, snow plows, spreaders, and propane bobtail delivery vehicles can significantly lower their operating costs, carbon footprint and imported oil dependence with the new ROUSH CleanTech Ford F-650," said Todd Mouw, vice president of sales and marketing for ROUSH CleanTech. "At half the cost of diesel and with virtually no particulate emissions, fueling with propane autogas offers valuable benefits to fleet managers in many industries."

Offered in two tank size configurations, the ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas fuel systems fill growing demand for heavier duty platforms. For trucks equipped with non-skirted bodies, a fuel tank package will provide a sizeable 80 usable gallon fuel capacity. A fuel tank package for skirted bodies will feature approximately 45 usable gallons. The dual "saddle" tank design features a single refueling point, replacing the gasoline tank location.

Heavier duty vehicles get lower fuel economy than their lighter-duty counterparts, which makes controlling fuel costs a major concern for fleet managers. Domestically produced propane autogas offers fuel savings while delivering cleaner emissions. Historically, propane autogas costs up to 40 percent less than gasoline and about 50 percent less than diesel. Federal tax credits provide an additional $.50 per gallon savings. Operating on propane autogas instead of diesel also removes the complexity and cost of diesel exhaust fluid and other after-treatment measures, which can accelerate return on investment and cut operating costs. Over a 200,000-mile lifecycle, a typical fleet can expect to see fuel cost savings of $50,000 or more by operating a ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas Ford F-650.

"The new ROUSH CleanTech Ford F-650 is yet another example of the versatility of abundant, clean and price-competitive propane autogas," said Roy Willis, president and CEO of the Propane Education & Research Council, which co-funded development of the fuel system. "Backed by a nationwide network of propane retailers offering convenient refueling options, the F-650 expands the portfolio of propane autogas trucks on the road today and provides an economic, environmental and competitive advantage for America’s fleets."

A Tier 1 supplier, ROUSH CleanTech is the first and only Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier (QVM) manufacturer offering dedicated propane autogas fuel systems. With up to 30,000 gross vehicle weight rating, the propane autogas Ford F-650 delivers the same horsepower, torque and towing as the gasoline fueled model available from Ford. It fulfills California Air Resources Board and Environmental Protection Agency certifications.

"Ford is the market leader in commercial trucks and vans, and continues to strengthen that position by offering a full line of commercial vehicles prepped from the factory with gaseous fuel-ready engines. From Ford F-250 through F-650, and E-150 through E-450, fleets can experience the benefits of this great alternative fuel in multiple configurations," said Mouw. Ford’s gaseous fuels prep package offers hardened valves and valve seats for improved wear resistance and durability. Ford warranty remains intact when installing fuel systems from manufacturers with the Ford QVM designation.

About ROUSH CleanTech: ROUSH CleanTech, an industry leader of alternative fuel vehicle technology, is a division of ROUSH Enterprises based in Livonia, Mich. ROUSH CleanTech designs, engineers, manufactures and installs propane autogas fuel system technology for light- and medium-duty Ford commercial vehicles, and Type A and Type C Blue Bird school buses. As a Ford QVM-certified alternative fuel vehicle manufacturer, ROUSH CleanTech delivers economical, clean and domestically produced fueling options for fleets across the country. GM Grows Range of Vehicles for NGOs in Emerging Markets

The Isuzu DMAX and Chevrolet N300 Pickup are the latest additions to General Motors’ lineup for its International Operations’ Aid & Development Program to help non-governmental organizations work on projects in difficult-to-access areas.

  • Isuzu DMAX and Chevrolet N300 latest vehicles to be offered
  • Vehicle offering part of GM’s International Aid & Development Program
  • International Fleet Sales is GM’s dealer for export of specialized products

DUBAI, U.A.E.  As part of its ongoing support for humanitarian work in emerging markets, General Motors announced today at the Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference that it will offer two new specialized products to Non-Governmental Organizations to assist them in carrying out their projects.

The Isuzu DMAX and Chevrolet N300 Pickup are the latest additions to GM’s line-up for its International Operations’ Aid & Development Program. The Isuzu DMAX will be sold exclusively in Africa, while the Chevrolet N300 will also be sold in other emerging markets around the world.

International Fleet Sales, GM’s dealer for the export of specialized products since 1999, will distribute the vehicles and provide aftersales support for NGOs and other customers in the Aid and Development sector.

“Customer service is a key priority for GM and IFS, and we will continue to work hard to ensure that these vehicles are properly serviced and maintained so that they can be kept on the road and assist NGOs in their vital work,” said Mark Barnes, GM International Operations Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Aftersales.

GM launched its Aid & Development Program in October 2012 at AidEx, the Global Humanitarian & Development Aid Event, where it offered the Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV and Chevrolet Colorado midsize pickup for NGOs.

IFS signed a five-year agreement in October to distribute the vehicles and provide aftersales support.

Both the Isuzu DMAX and Chevrolet N300 are robust vehicles well suited for challenging off-road driving and the weather conditions faced by users in emerging markets, Barnes said.
General Motors Co. (NYSE:GM, TSX: GMM) and its partners produce vehicles in 30 countries, and the company has leadership positions in the world's largest and fastest-growing automotive markets.  GM, its subsidiaries and joint venture entities sell vehicles under the Chevrolet, Cadillac, Baojun, Buick, GMC, Holden, Isuzu, Jiefang, Opel, Vauxhall and Wuling brands. This articulating crane only weighs 210 lbs., but will lift 1,100 lbs. at 3 feet, and because of its small size and strong capability, it is perfect for a bumper mount crane.
