A hydraulic out-and-down stabilizer span provides customers with excellent stability for loading and unloading palletized goods, while a high lift-to-weight ratio allows for maximum payload on the truck.

4 Methods To Sell Your Work Truck

What is your process of getting rid of an old work truck when it comes time to buy new? If you don’t have experience with this task it can become quite daunting. While getting rid of a commercial truck isn’t as simple as trading in a used car, the technologies of today have made it substantially easier.

1. Dealer Trade-In

The majority of commercial truck dealers focus on selling new commercial trucks and their inventory reflects that with little, sometimes none, used commercial trucks. However, searching for and finding a commercial truck dealer that accepts trade-ins could create a convenient transaction for your next new work truck purchase. While you won’t get the highest dollar on your trade-in, you will save some time by not having to deal with privately selling your used work truck.

2. Auction

There are many auction companies that specialize in heavy equipment, machinery and work trucks. Instead of you managing the seller process, the auction company helps market your work truck and handle the transaction. While all of this comes with a cost, selling at an auction is a less hassle option for you.

3. Paid Listings

Cars.com, Autotrader and Carmax are all online outlets for retail vehicles. Similar online outlets exist for commercial trucks. Sites like Commercial Truck Trader, Truck Paper. Ebay and many others contain thousands of work trucks, many of which are listings from private sellers. For a nominal fee, you can list your used work truck on sites like these and gain a significant amount of exposure. Keep in mind, depending upon where the buyer is located, you may incur logistics costs with getting the vehicle to the buyer depending upon the arrangement.

4. Free Listings

There are many online sites that offer free listings to sell your stuff, including your used work truck. Social media sites like Facebook and websites like Craigslist are viable options for selling a commercial truck. While they may not be considered as high quality as a paid online listing site, they offer up additional exposure and are better than slapping a “for sale” sign on the side of the truck and parking it on the street.

Consider some of these additional thoughts before selling your used work truck. If your work truck is highly customized, it may shrink the buyer’s market size. Depending upon the economy and demand for work trucks, your used work truck may bring a premium price.

GMC Debuts Full AT4 Premium Off-Road Lineup with 2021 Terrain Preview

Premium off-road sub-brand builds on success with three reveals in one week

Expand image

VAIL, Colo. — GMC is completing its pioneering move into the premium off-road space by making AT4 available across its entire retail lineup in 2020. With the addition of the first-ever 2021 Terrain AT4, Canyon AT4 and 2021 Yukon AT4, GMC is poised to double its AT4 offerings and strengthen its market position as the only premium truck and SUV lineup that’s made to be used both on- and off-road.
Introduced on the 2019 Sierra, AT4 was created as a unique persona that offers credible capability while still providing premium everyday comforts. AT4 variants distinctively combine off-road capability, innovative technology and bold design, along with GMC’s premium refinement to practically complement an authentic outdoor lifestyle. Core AT4 design includes premium rugged exterior details, featuring black chrome grille, fog light surrounds and rear appliques, as well as unique authentic aluminum interior decor and premium fabric colors.
The response has been clear that AT4 is a winner with customers; Sierra sales were up 14% year-over-year in 2019, and AT4 played a huge role in that growth. Based on initial Sierra AT4 buyer data, they are adventurous, affluent, highly active and younger than the average light-duty full-size pickup truck buyer. They are attracted to GMC’s premium features with a more aggressive, athletic design that provides the ability to go off-road with authentic capability.
“AT4 continues GMC’s bold entrance into the premium, off-road and adventure- oriented truck and SUV space,” said Phil Brook, vice president of GMC Marketing. “For each of the AT4 variants, we listened to our customers and made sure the vehicles met their active lifestyle needs.”
AT4 models are engineered to add an extra level of capability and technology tailored to customers’ wants and needs. That vision is consistent across all AT4 models and the level of capability matches the needs of customers in each segment. Professional Grade engineering highlights of the AT4 lineup include:
  • Sierra AT4 offers a 2-inch factory lift, skid plates, Rancho® monotube shocks, a standard MultiPro Tailgate, available Carbon Fiber Bed and available Mud-Terrain tires.
  • Sierra HD AT4 features an off-road suspension, skid plates, Rancho shocks®, a standard MultiPro Tailgate and up to 15 innovative camera views* that helps benefit not just trailering, but visibility over rough terrain and in tight corners.
  • Acadia AT4 features an Advanced Twin-Clutch AWD System for increased capability on mixed surfaces, All-Terrain tires and Traction Select with Off-Road Mode.
  • Canyon AT4 comes standard with off-road tuned suspension, an automatic locking rear differential and 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac® tires. (available Spring 2020)

International Trucks NTEA MV Launch Live Video

International Truck 2018 NTEA press conference and MV Series reveal with Michael Cancelliere, President, Truck & Parts and Jeff Sass, SVP, Sales & Marketing.

EVIR® Electronic Verified Inspection Reporting

Tag, inspect and transmit - it’s that simple

Tractor / Trailer Inspection configuation

TAG – Data-encoded RFID tags are placed in each inspection zone of a vehicle or asset. In a commercial trucking environment, for example, tags are placed in inspection zones that adhere to DOT compliance requirements for pre- and post-trip inspections. Many school districts place tags at the back of a bus to ensure that drivers perform their end-of-shift check for students.

INSPECT – The individual performing the inspection must physically scan each tag on the vehicle. The tablet device must be within two inches of the point of inspection, which helps to verify that a check was performed and the vehicle is up to operating standards. EVIR acts as an electronic, verifiable log to prove that inspections are being performed accurately and consistently.

TRANSMIT – Defects or vehicle damage can be captured with Zonar's tablet device. Equipped with a 5 mega-pixel camera, drivers can easily transmit photos to give maintenance a heads-up as to what they are seeing. After the tablet is docked inside the vehicle, the inspection data is seamlessly transferred back to Zonar's web-based application, Ground Traffic Control®. Fleet managers and maintenance personnel have immediate access to the inspection data from the field, helping them to prioritize and schedule repairs.

Not just for vehicles

The EVIR system is as flexible as our customers' unique needs. While most commonly used to verify the pre- and post-trip inspection process for fleets across all industries, EVIR use spans to wherever there's a need to verify a process is being followed.

A complete solution provider

Zonar offers a full suite of smart fleet technology solutions that improve safety, decrease downtime of vehicles, reduce fuel costs, coach driver performance, and streamline back-office reporting.

Unparalleled customer service

Test Drive: Driving the FTR, Isuzu's Biggest Truck

The Isuzu FTR holds true to the company's vehicle design philosophy with an emphasis on safety, maneuverability and fuel economy. - Photo: Jack Roberts
Around the world, Isuzu Motors sells a range of commercial trucks, ranging from light- to heavy-duty models. In North America, however, the Japanese OEM focused for many years exclusively on providing midrange Class 3 to 5 medium-duty trucks.
But in 2017, that dynamic changed when the company launched its Class 6 FTR model — a 25,950-pound GVWR cabover optimized for urban and regional applications — in the U.S. And on a clear day in mid-November, I got to climb up into the cab and take a shining new FTR out on the road to see for myself how Isuzu is approaching the heavier end of the medium-duty market here.
For starters, the FTR is by no means a departure from Isuzu’s long-standing and highly successful formula for short-wheelbase cabover trucks.
At first approach, the FTR appears massive compared to other Isuzu models I’ve driven in the past. But, scale aside, the truck also seems intimately familiar. All the design cues I’ve come to expect from Isuzu are present, from the panoramic front windshield, outstanding agility in tight surroundings, simple and intuitive switches, knobs and controls, crisp, easy-to-read instrumentation and gauges, and work-focused cab interior ergonomics.
More to the point, the FTR retains Isuzu’s proven low-cab-forward design developed for city driving, which boasts a combination of maneuverability and visibility. My demo model featured the standard, four-cylinder, Isuzu 5.2L 4HK1-TC turbocharged diesel engine. Mated to a North American-exclusive Allison automatic transmission, the powertrain puts out 215 hp and 520 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,600 rpm. The truck was fitted with an 18-foot Morgan refrigerated body and a Thermo King T680R-50 reefer unit, making the truck suitable for urban and short-haul refrigerated food transport.

GM Investing $1.5 Billion in Next-Generation Midsize Trucks to be Built at Wentzville Plant

Expand image

  • Wentzville receiving $1 billion for upgrades
  • Investment retains 4,000 good-paying U.S. manufacturing jobs
  • Investment part of a strategy to invest in growth areas and strengthen U.S. manufacturing base
WENTZVILLE, Mo. — General Motors announced today plans to invest $1.5 billion to bring its next generation of midsize pickup trucks to market. GM’s Wentzville truck plant will receive $1 billion of this investment to upgrade the facility in preparation for the new products. This investment is expected to retain about 4,000 good-paying U.S. manufacturing jobs at the Wentzville site.  Specific information related to GM’s next generation of mid-size trucks is not being released at this time.
The Wentzville plant’s paint shop, body shop and general assembly areas will receive upgrades, including new machines, conveyors, controls and tooling.
“Through this investment, General Motors is making a firm commitment to the State of Missouri, the City of Wentzville and the GM Wentzville team,” said Mark Reuss, GM president. “This is part of our comprehensive strategy to invest in growth areas and strengthen our U.S. manufacturing base. GM sells more pickups than any other automaker and we have aggressive plans to build on our strengths.”
Since reintroducing the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon in 2013, GM has sold more than 700,000 midsize pickups in the U.S. The Colorado and Canyon have helped cement GM as the U.S. industry’s most successful pickup truck company for four consecutive years. From 2013 through Q3 2019, GM has sold 600,000 more pickups than any other competitor in the U.S.
GM has invested heavily in midsize trucks in recent years by bringing more product features to market, including new diesel and gas engines, new transmissions and special edition models, like the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 and Bison, as well as the GMC Canyon AT4 available next year.
GM’s Wentzville assembly plant opened in 1983. The plant operates on three shifts of production and currently employs about 4,000 hourly and 330 salaried employees. Wentzville builds the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon midsize pickups and Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana full-size vans. Hourly employees are represented by UAW Local 2250.
General Motors (NYSE:GM) is committed to delivering safer, better and more sustainable ways for people to get around. General Motors, its subsidiaries and its joint venture entities sell vehicles under the CadillacChevroletBaojunBuickGMCHolden and Wuling brands. Premier Aluminum Racks – We’ve Got Your Back!

Premier Built Aluminum Platform Racks - Strong but Lighter
than Traditional Steel Platform Racks

When you try to lift a steel rack off or replace it on your platform, you may be inducing unnecessary strain into your back muscles and risking serious back injury. Premier Racks are built with heavy gauge extruded aluminum slats. The posts are thick aluminum channel, this makes for a significantly lighter rack section and makes it much easier to move the sections when necessary. In fact, the typical Premier section weighs 34% less than a steel rack section. That’s 27 pounds or 12 pounds lighter than a steel section.

Read what OSHA says about lifting heavy objects here:

We also offer the “Swing Out” version of the front most rack on each side. This allows you to lift the aluminum rack just a bit, enough distance to disengage the vertical posts from the side pockets and swing it out and forward. This leaves you with access to load and unload large, heavy objects from the side and up close to the cab where it rides well and can be secured against the headboard.

In NTSB top transport issues, technology's pace quickening, human error in sharp relief

Technology is the unifying theme running through NTSB's updated Most Wanted List this year as well as the related recommendations the agency has.

A 2015 crash near Chattanooga, TN where this tractor-trailer plowed into construction zone traffic, striking eight vehicles and killing six occupants.

All indications in the National Transportation Safety Board's latest "Most Wanted List" of problems to fix in transportation point to one thing: in many ways, technology across that broad industry isn't just advancing, it's accelerating. It is both problem and solution.
Technology is the unifying and strongest theme running through NTSB's updated list this year as well as the related recommendations the agency has for state governments and others to solve these "most critical" woes in transportation. NTSB investigates transportation accidents and deaths throughout the year, and the Most Wanted List shows how the focus for those efforts is changing, as these problems themselves are.
