ELECTRIFYING ISUZUS POWERING UP VICTORIA

Delivering electricity to more than one million customers in Melbourne and regional Victoria, CitiPower and Powercor Australia is Victoria's largest electricity distributor with a combined network covering more than 200,000 square kilometres.

Operating one of Australia's most reliable electricity networks, CitiPower and Powercor is responsible for the management and maintenance of Western and Central Victoria's electricity poles, overhead and underground wires and other forms of electricity infrastructure.

Extending a working relationship that spans over two decades, Powercor and Citipower recently renewed some of its older trucks with a fleet of 20 new Euro V Isuzu N and F Series trucks.

CitiPower and Powercor's decision to operate an Isuzu fleet is based on Isuzu Trucks' reputation for reliability and factory support, said Powercor Australia, Fleet Manager, Shane Myers.

"The repair and service work that our trucks carry out is essential to Victoria's livelihood - businesses could lose thousands of dollars for every hour they don't have electricity, hence our need for reliable vehicles," Mr Myers said.

"Over the years Isuzu has not only provided us with reliable trucks, but factory support and training in the areas of product and servicing."

Fitted with a retractable 14-metre crane and a 1050 millimetre wide borer, Powercor's latest Isuzu addition - an Isuzu FVZ 1400 - is specified for utility pole maintenance and construction.

Towing a trailer capable of carrying two 500 kilogram utility poles, the Powercor Isuzu uses its borer to prepare the ground before installing power poles with its on-board winch and crane.

Once the utility poles are installed, construction and maintenance crews are lifted to the top of the power pole by an insulated Isuzu FVD 1000 carrying an 18 metre elevated work platform (EWP).

Power for the Isuzu FVZ 1400 crane borer and FVD 1000 EWP's hydraulics, stabilisers, crane, winch and borer is provided by the six-litre Isuzu SiTEC Series II 295 engine via the power take-off unit.

According to Mr Myers, the Isuzu FVZ 1400 performs exceptionally well, offering strong power, excellent manoeuvrability and visibility for the drivers.

"The Isuzu SiTEC Series II 295 engine provides our crews plenty of power for highway and crowded city conditions," Mr Myers said.

"Unlike general freight companies, our trucks travel at almost full Gross Combination Mass all the time, therefore the engine is nearly always operating at full capacity.

"With the cab-over design and large windows, the latest Isuzu F Series models have improved forward and side visibility for our drivers - this is extremely beneficial due to the conditions that our crews work in."

A number of new features have helped improve driver comfort and safety in the new Isuzu F Series models, said Mr Myers.

"There has been a vast improvement to driver comfort in the new range," Mr Myers said.

"Power windows, integrated air-conditioning and the touch-screen audio visual system have not only improved OH&S, but made it easier for our drivers to operate the truck.

"The air-conditioning has been widely praised by our crews, especially on hot summer days where there is little or no shelter from the sun for them in open fields."

To increase both driver comfort and OH&S on-site, Powercor also installs reverse cameras on all of its Isuzu trucks.

Powercor's Isuzu fleet travels approximately 25,000 to 30,000 kilometres per annum and is renewed every 10 years.

ISUZU LONGS MAKE SHORT WORK OF DUNNYS R US DELIVERIES

The eponymous hero of the film Kenny is best known for his trials and tribulations as the face of port-a-loo business Splashdown.

For people outside the toilet hire industry, it's difficult to know where fact begins and fiction ends in Kenny's fictional world. Dunnys R Us Operations Manager, Nick Van Zeyl, was more than happy to shed some light on the matter.

Nick says while the bulk of the customers serviced by his business are on construction sites in Melbourne and regional Victoria, Kenny's work at various events strikes a chord.

"The movie didn't really shine a light on the construction site side of things, but it certainly picked up on how things can unfold at events," he said.

"I can see parallels between the movie and reality, it really just depends on the day and the type of work we're doing.

"It's certainly delivered a little more recognition to our industry, which I think is a good thing."

Not that Dunnys R Us relies on the big screen to boost its customer base.

The company currently hires and maintains more than 2500 pieces of equipment - toilets, portable showers, temporary fencing, rubbish cages and scaffolding, to name a few.

Steady growth over the past 15 years has seen Dunnys R Us expand from a one-man operation with six toilets and one truck, to a staff of 30 and 20 fleet vehicles.

Nick says this has led to the expansion of the business from its Bayswater headquarters to satellite offices in Laverton, Geelong, Drouin and Alexandra.

"Today, our bread and butter is building sites all over metropolitan Melbourne and country Victoria, and we also service special events like the Australian Open tennis in Melbourne and the women's surf carnival at Phillip Island," he said.

"We also provide mobile toilet trailers to the Metropolitan Fire Brigade whenever there are fires, and to other emergency services when needed. This means we're on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

Dunnys R Us has used Isuzu trucks to get the job done since it began operations in 1993.

Nick has recently upgraded two of the business' pump trucks to Isuzu FSR 850 Longs after being impressed with the reliability of an older 2006 FSR 500 medium and a 2006 NQR model, which are still hauling equipment for Dunnys R Us after five years.

The medium duty FSR 850 Longs are rated at 14,000kg GVM, and coupled to the SiTEC Series III 235 engine - which produces 176kW of power at 2,400rpm and 2,600Nw of torque at 1,450rpm - the set-up is ideal for the application.

As always, driver comfort remains at the fore in the FSR 850, thanks to the Isri 6860 air suspended seat fitted as standard.

"When I'm buying a truck I look for dependability and reliability," Nick said.

"Each week the guys average 1,200 kilometres and the trucks are on the road for a minimum of 60 hours, so we need our vehicles to be reliable - and that's what we get with Isuzu.

"We're happy to pay for quality and buy Isuzu because we know we're not going to spend more on maintenance, servicing and chasing insignificant parts.

"You might pay a little extra, but when you buy an Isuzu you get a real truck with real truck parts, and you're less likely to have to spend a fortune on maintenance."

Dunnys R Us has specified the new FSR 850s with a 7,000 litre waste tank and a 1,500 litre fresh water tank.

Next on Nick's shopping list is an Isuzu to transport a crane and scaffolding for Dunnys R Us. With extra long variants currently available in the Isuzu FRR, FRD and FSR model ranges, he has plenty to choose from.

Stacking Tool Boxes On SRW Flatbed

Here's a single rear wheel extended cab truck with a 9' flatbed with a unique setup of tool boxes. The underbody box is common enough, but the upper bed boxes are interesting. These are underbed boxes mounted on top and the bottom set have fold-down doors like the underbed box does and the boxes on top have been flipped to open upward due to the height to make it easy to use. Great idea! Then we have some short solid contractor style gates around the back to help keep loads on the flatbed section in place.

A Slight Design Change Makes Perfect On Knapheide Welder Body

Here's an 11' Knapheide Service Body for an iron working company with a raised front compartment on the streetside. It is a vented compartment and are most often used for gas bottles used in welding operations.

The body has the master locking system including a separate locking system for the raised front compartment for extra security. The body is mounted on a Ford F450/550 chassis.

One thing that is unique about this truck is the rack. First of all it is mounted on the inside top edge of the service body which provides maximum strength via the angle iron mount, adding to the extra strength of the straight leg design. It is forklift loadable. But that's not what is unique. What is unique is the way the front section is mounted and designed to incorporate the raised front compartment. And, what is even more unique is how the design of this portion allows the rack to have the normal height above the cab that it would have if it weren't for this obstruction. We see so many racks that don't do this and then end up having a large gap between the rack and the top of the cab. This makes the rack harder to use and it also doesn't look quite right. Bravo!

You could call this a welder body, yet welder bodies are quite varied in design depending on the welder buying it. Another quality Knapheide product delivered to a satisfied user and built by California Work Trucks in Union City, CA. See more from Cal Work Trucks at www.calworktrucks.com.

BULLEEN ART AND GARDEN DELIVERS WITH ISUZU TIPPER

Located alongside Melbourne's Yarra River in the north-eastern suburbs, the specialist landscape supplier's focus on sustainable gardening has enabled the company to build a loyal customer base over the years, allowing it to grow from a small nursery to a full-service art and garden centre.

BAAG Manager, Alastair Cooper, said he opted for another Isuzu truck based on the company's previous experience with Isuzu as well as the brand's resale value.

"When we were shopping for a new truck, we wanted a vehicle that was reliable and easy to maintain - Isuzu was better than the competition in terms of price and specification," Alastair said.

"Isuzu's reliability is also exceptional and our experience driving Isuzu trucks has been very good along with the resale value of our older Isuzu truck."

Fitted with a factory-built 3.8 metre cubed tipping body, BAAG's Isuzu FRR 500 delivers landscaping supplies to a range of residential, commercial and local government gardening customers.

According to Alastair, a slight modification was made to the truck's tipper body to improve load security, while enhancing the company's visual presence on the road.

"We installed hungry boards, a middle gate and a retaining wall on the tipping body to ensure that fragile saplings, mulch and sand are protected from the wind when we are driving," Alastair said.

"The dual-bay systems on the tipping body have also allowed us to become more efficient with our deliveries.

"Furthermore, BAAG is involved in a range of local community activities and having the extra space to show off our vibrant livery is an added bonus from a marketing perspective."

Working in busy construction sites and delivering supplies to residential areas, Alastair said the Isuzu FRR 500 Tipper's cab-over design and large front and side windows provided the drivers with an unrestricted view.

"The Isuzu cab provides our drivers with very good forward and side vision," Alastair said.

"We often deliver to residential estates and crowded construction sites where there is a lot of activity - having large front and side windows is a great safety feature.

"Our drivers have also found the Isuzu FRR 500 Tipper very manoeuvrable with a great turning circle for a truck that's over six metres long."
According to Alastair, another outstanding feature in the new Isuzu FRR 500 Tipper is the truck's easy-to-use cabin layout.

"The Isuzu FRR's cabin layout is brilliant, the instrument buttons are well positioned and practical, while the ISRI air-suspended seat provides an enhanced level of comfort when driving," Alastair said.

Operating in a variety of conditions ranging from crowded city streets and construction sites to highways and park tracks, Alastair says the Isuzu FRR 500's SiTEC engine provides ample power.

"The Isuzu engine has been very reliable and provides plenty of power for our application," he said.

"The truck's engine has had no problems hauling its maximum gross weight in a variety of driving environments ranging from take-offs in crowded city streets to highway travel at 100 kilometres per hour."

ISUZU DIESEL ENGINES POWER MORE THAN MARKET-LEADING TRUCKS

Thousands of Isuzu diesel engines are put to work every day across the nation in a range of applications not usually associated with a market-leading truck brand.

Isuzu's reputation for producing rugged and reliable truck powerplants holds true at construction and mining sites around Australia, where international manufacturers such as Hitachi, JCB, Komatsu, Shindaiwa, Sumitomo and many others utilise the brand's diesel engines to power their construction equipment and gensets.

Isuzu Australia Limited's (IAL) diesel engine branch has an impressive pedigree. Its parent company, Isuzu Motors, is Japan's leading diesel engine manufacturer, providing engines for more than 50 per cent of Japanese-manufactured excavators.

IAL has supplanted the same knowledge, expertise and superior product embodied by its Japanese diesel engine success to the Australian market.

Local operators now enjoy convenient access to the brand's superior diesel engine range, available at one of Isuzu's 36 Industrial Engine Dealerships around Australia.

Isuzu diesel engines are offered in fixed speed (for generators/pumps) and variable speed (for all other applications requiring diesel power) ranging from 14 horsepower to 532 horsepower across 50 model lines.

Powering many Australian generators, mini-backhoes and compressors is the 2 & 3-cylinder C Series range of Isuzu industrial engines, offering users 10 - 42 kW of power and 31 - 65 Nm of torque.

For small-to-medium forklifts, excavators, loaders and power shovels, the 4-cylinder Isuzu 4LE1 is the engine of choice for manufacturers such as Sakai, Shindaiwa and Hitachi. The Isuzu 4LE1 is available naturally aspirated or turbo charged and produces 36 - 45kW of power and 140 - 180Nm of torque at 1,800 RPM. It is also widely used to power small tractors and rollers.

Powering larger excavators, forklifts and an array of civil construction equipment is Isuzu's 4J engine series. Depending on model and application, the Isuzu 4J series engines produce 61-95 kW of power at 2,500 RPM and 263-408 Nm of torque at 1,800 RPM.

For heavy loader, roller, forklift and power shovel applications, OEM manufacturers such as Hitachi and TCM utilise the Isuzu 6BG1T, 4HK1 and 6HK1 engines as a power source. These engines have built a reputation for hard working reliability and fuel efficiency and are widely used in the mining and industrial sectors.

"In Australia, Isuzu is best known for its truck market dominance and reliability, but not many know the brand is also responsible for over 50 percent of diesel engines used in excavators produced in Japan. Many of these are hard at work for businesses across the nation every day," IAL Industrial & Marine Engines Manager, Dean Whitford said.

"Isuzu is also gaining a foothold in the ever-expanding Chinese construction sector, shipping over 100,000 industrial engines to meet demand in 2010 alone.

"With a large Dealership network across Australia, proven reliability in demanding OEM applications and professional service and support, Isuzu diesel engines are an attractive option for local manufacturers needing a conventional diesel power train."

Isuzu diesel engines - including Japanese OEM models and parts - are available through Isuzu industrial dealerships nationwide. For more information, please visit http://www.isuzu.com.au/

NISSAN AND FEDEX EXPRESS TEST NV200 BASED ELECTRIC VEHICLE ON LONDON STREETS

Nissan's battery-powered zero-emission version of award-winning NV200 to undergo FedEx Express trials

A prototype zero-emission all-electric delivery vehicle is ready to start extensive real-world testing on the streets of London. FedEx Express and Nissan are collaborating over a two month period to evaluate how the NV200 electric vehicle (EV) prototype copes with the rigours of daily duties in the capital.

The Nissan NV200 EV prototype uses the same EV powertrain and battery originally developed for the multi-award winning Nissan LEAF - the world's first 100 per cent electric mass-market family car: 2011 European Car of the Year, 2011 World Car of the Year, and Car of the Year Japan 2011-2012. To date Nissan already sold more than 20,000 Nissan LEAFs, making it the best-selling all-electric car across the globe.

Beth Galetti, vice president of Planning and Engineering, FedEx Express EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa) said, "FedEx is proud to collaborate with Nissan on this initiative. Our cross-sector approach to reduce dependence on petroleum, reduce carbon impact and eliminate tailpipe emissions remains unwavering. At FedEx, we seek to connect the world in responsible and resourceful ways and we will continue to work closely with Nissan to change what is possible."

"Zero-emission vehicles like Nissan LEAF are already playing an increasingly significant environmental role in our towns and cities. The Nissan NV200 EV prototype delivery vehicle will not only improve the quality of urban life, but thanks to best in class running costs has great potential to ease the economic burdens placed on companies," said Nissan Corporate Vice President Hideto Murakami, responsible for the Global LCV Business Unit, "FedEx Express feedback from the evaluation process will help us tailor a future battery-powered light commercial Nissan vehicle that meets customer needs."

"Collaboration is part of our global vehicle strategy," explained Dennis Beal, Vice President of Global Vehicles for FedEx Express. "Through collaboration we can exponentially improve and expedite what is possible. We value the opportunity Nissan has given us to provide experienced feedback and contribute to development of the best Nissan NV200 possible."

FedEx Express currently operates 43 all-electric vehicles in London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Memphis- all of which are ideal dense urban centres. With zero emissions, no tailpipe, and energy-recycling regenerative braking, the Nissan NV200 EV prototype is particularly well-suited for congested city streets where poor air quality is causing increased concern and the start and stop of city traffic reduces the wasteful loss of energy and thus increases the efficiency of the vehicle's driveline. Battery charging options include a complete recharge overnight or up to 80 per cent capacity in just 30 minutes using a Quick Charger.

Nissan is aiming to become the global leader in zero emissions and sees the application of its advanced zero emission technology to the LCV and business-to-business markets as an important next step in the development of sustainable mobility for all.

Additional trials are anticipated for 2012 mirroring similar trials held in 2011, where the NV200 EV prototype was used by the Japan Post Service on delivery and collection duties in Japan.

Here are some quotes about and from the book:

"This book is designed to offer a detailed overview and strategy for improving any commercial truck operation. Especially, it will help those dealers who are thinking about getting into this market or who have been dabbling in it. Dealers will understand how a commercial truck operation can be dramatically improved and how they can grow it as quickly as possible, with profit." -- Excerpt

It's about time someone unlocked the "secrets" to harvesting the rewards of the Commercial Marketplace. All it takes is a plan, a little diligence and some brains. Well, you have taken care of part three for any interested parties; your work can only improve the way resources are expended and sales are consummated.

Once again, my hat is off to you for this accomplishment. It was kind of you to send me an advance copy soliciting my feedback; all that I have to say is: "Yours is a job well done."

On behalf of myself--but also undoubtedly for those of us toiling in this marketplace--a very sincere thank you!"

New Product Spotlight: Venco VP6 Dump Hoist Designed For Newest GM Pickup Trucks

CINCINNATI, OHIO (12/1/2011) --- Venco/Venturo Manufacturing, Inc. is proud to announce the launch of its newest product: the Venco VP6 Dump Hoist for 2011/2012 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup models. Part of Venco’s VP6 Series, the scissor hoist turns an 8’ pickup box into a 6,000 lb. capacity dump truck—ideal for contractors, landscapers, ranchers, municipalities, or anyone else who needs their good-looking pickup to do real work.

The latest features of the VP6 include: integrated hinge and bumper brackets; greaseless composite bearings in the hinges; and complete custom engineering for 2011/2012 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup models, ensuring proper installation and perfect fit.

"I’m proud of our team for taking our original, tried and true scissor hoist and integrating it into a new truck design," said Brett Collins, president of Venco/Venturo. "It’s clear now that GM and Ford are here to stay, and that they will remain the dominant forces in the pickup truck industry. We have hoists for both, and the VP6 is a well thought-out customization to fit the newest pickup trucks in use today."

Venco/Venturo Manufacturing, Inc. has been engineering and manufacturing truckspecific hoist kits for Ford, Chevrolet, GMC and Dodge full-size pickups since 1979. Every Venco hoist is designed for a specific vehicle, with completely hidden installation, retaining the original look of the vehicle.

An integrated lifting nest, hinge assembly and body stiffener forms a rugged body understructure to rigidly support the pickup floor. The bumper relocation kit maintains the original look of the vehicle and a Class II hitch rating, and allows for a 45-degree dump angle.

The combination electric/hydraulic pump offers industrial strength performance in single acting (gravity down) and double acting (power down) versions. Safety prop and handheld pendant controller comes standard.

The new design of the scissor mounting hardware requires minimal welding, speeding
installation by an hour or more. Contact Venco at 800-226-2238 to find a dealer near you. OEM distribution agreements are available in select markets for approved up-fitters.

Ford Grows Best-Selling Commercial Vehicle Lineup with New Products, Features to Meet Greener, Leaner Customer Needs

  • Ford sells six of the top 10 commercial vehicles in the U.S., according to Polk U.S. registration data

  • By 2012, half of Ford vehicles will be capable of running on alternative fuels, including Ford commercial trucks, which will be available with flex fuel (E85), biodiesel, compressed natural gas, liquid propane gas, hybrid and battery electric powertrains direct from Ford or from certified partners

  • All-new Ford Transit full-size van to be built in the U.S. by 2013 will live up to Econoline’s Built Ford Tough reputation plus achieve at least 25 percent better fuel economy, lowering CO2 emissions and customer operating costs

  • 2012 Ford F-650 with new 6.8-liter V10 gas engine option and fuel-efficient six-speed transmission promises to save municipal customers with tight budgets an average of $8,300 per vehicle compared to the F-650 diesel model
DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 7, 2011 – Ford Motor Company, the best-selling commercial vehicle manufacturer in the U.S., will grow its product lineup in 2012 with a new medium-duty truck, two all-new Police Interceptors and a next-generation limousine to meet the rapidly changing needs of its commercial customers.

Ford’s commercial vehicle lineup is the most diverse and capable yet for 2012.

“Though they often go unnoticed, commercial vehicles play an important role keeping the nation’s economy moving and protecting people’s lives,” said Kevin Koswick, director, North American Fleet, Lease and Remarketing Operations.

Ford sales prove the company is on the right track. Ford sells six of the top 10 commercial vehicles in the United States according to Polk U.S. registration data. And as the economy rebounds from the industry lows of 2009, Ford has gained major market share in key commercial vehicle segments.

In vans, where Ford E-Series has been the best-seller for 32 years, market share has soared from 49.8 percent in 2008 to 53.7 percent in 2011, even as new competition has tried to enter the market.

In heavy-duty (commercial use only) pickups, Ford F-Series Super Duty – the best-selling line of trucks in the U.S. for 34 straight years – has seen its market share rise from 45.3 percent in 2008 to 47.1 percent in 2011.

As the nation’s commercial vehicles head back to work in greater numbers, Ford is committed to implementing and working with leaders in sustainable technologies and alternative fuels without compromising the capable performance its customers (and their customers) depend on.

No-compromise fuel savings
  • By 2020, Ford is targeting a 30 percent reduction in CO2 emissions from Ford vehicles in the U.S. and Europe
  • Certified clean-burning CNG/LPG alternative fuel gaseous engine prep packages are available across Ford’s truck lineup, helping lower commercial customer operating costs along with emissions
Ford offers a broad range of fuel-saving and alternative fuel powertrains for its commercial vehicles.

The Ford F-150 – the most fuel-efficient light-duty pickup truck – is able to tow up to 11,300 pounds with either a traditional 6.2-liter V8 or a 3.5-liter EcoBoost® V6 that is rated at up to 22 mpg on the highway. Ford expects to sell more than 100,000 EcoBoost-equipped F-150s in 2011, less than a year after the engine first went on sale. Additionally the 3.7-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 engines are flex fuel-capable.

EcoBoost direct injection and turbocharging technology also powers Ford’s next-generation Police Interceptor sedan. The Ford Police Interceptor sedan and utility recently passed the extreme testing conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and proved to the public and the law enforcement industry that Ford delivers purpose-built, pursuit-rated Police Interceptor vehicles. Both the Ford Police Interceptor sedan and utility are capable of operation on E85. In addition, Ford Police Interceptor is the only police vehicle available with all-wheel drive. To date, more than 85 percent of Police Interceptor orders have been with all-wheel drive. Ford will begin delivering the new Police Interceptors to cities across America beginning in early 2012.

The entire Ford F-Series Super Duty pickup truck and chassis cab lineup is available with conventional, diesel, biodiesel B20 and CNG/LPG-dedicated or bi-fuel capability, while Ford F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks can be optioned for biodiesel or CNG/LPG operation. In addition to biodiesel and CNG/LPG offerings, the 6.2-liter V8 can also be operated on E85.

The Transit Connect small van is available with either conventional, CNG or a battery electric drive system that’s capable of up to 80 miles of range with zero emissions.

E-Series full-size vans and cutaways can be optioned with flex fuel or CNG/LPG gaseous engine prep package fuel systems, or with a hybrid system from a Ford upfit partner.

Next-generation Ford Transit to replace Ford E-Series
Ford will migrate its commercial vans around the world to a common, global platform in 2013, when Kansas City Assembly Plant workers begin producing the full-size Transit for North American customers.

The new Transit van, a predecessor of which is available in Europe, will eventually replace the venerable Econoline wagon and van in North America. The Transit will be a truly global cargo and people hauler with improvements in handling, fuel economy and technology.

This is another example of the company’s One Ford strategy to serve customers with world-class vehicles and leverage global assets, including common platforms, as well as bring new jobs to the greater Kansas City area.

Transit will also achieve at least 25 percent better fuel economy compared to similar Econoline vans, thanks in part to smart weight savings that will trim at least 300 pounds from the vehicle compared to a similar E-Series van. That means customers will potentially save thousands of dollars in operating costs from fuel savings.

2012 Ford F-650 gas model with 6.8-liter V10
For municipalities and others seeking a cheaper alternative to replenish an aging medium-duty truck fleet, Ford offers the 2012 Super Duty F-650 with a gas engine – a class exclusive in the medium-duty truck segment. The gas variant costs thousands of dollars less than diesel trucks of its size.

Ford has heard from municipalities around the country that they need a lower-cost, yet highly capable medium-duty truck to help keep their streets clean of dirt and snow.

In response, Ford has created the new 2012 F-650 with a 6.8-liter V10 gas engine option and fuel-efficient six-speed transmission that promises to save municipal customers with tight budgets an average of $8,300 per vehicle compared to the F-650 diesel model.

All 2012 Ford F-650 and F-750 models will have available SYNC® technology to help keep drivers better connected without them having to divert their eyes from the road. Last month, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration issued a ruling prohibiting Interstate commercial truck and bus drivers from using hand-held electronics while behind the wheel. Ford SYNC allows drivers to communicate wirelessly without sacrificing safety.

Next-generation limousine
Ford Motor Company also knows that its commercial customers want durable yet sophisticated vehicles to transport their door-to-door customers safely and efficiently. In response, the company has delivered the next-generation limo/livery vehicle in the Lincoln MKT Town Car.

The new Lincoln MKT Town Car offers a higher roofline, roomier, more sophisticated seating, a spacious trunk plus even easier passenger entry and exit.

The Lincoln MKT Town Car is available in two bodystyles, Livery and Limousine, maintaining Lincoln’s position as the dominant brand in this segment for 20 years. Lincoln’s share of the chauffeured transport industry is over 70 percent and the next-generation products have been designed to continue this leadership position

Ford Super Duty F-650 6.8L V10 Offers Functionality, Medium-Duty Capability in Class-Exclusive, Affordable Package

Ford Super Duty F-650 6.8L V10 Offers Functionality, Medium-Duty Capability in Class-Exclusive, Affordable Package

  • The Ford Super Duty F-650 gas model provides municipalities an affordable option in a robust truck adaptable for various purposes – saving an average of $8,300 compared to the F-650 diesel model

  • 6.8-liter three-valve V10 gas engine provides 362 horsepower and 457 lb.-ft. of torque

  • New interior for added comfort with SYNC® hands-free phone connectivity available

  • Optional gaseous fuel prep package for conversion to compressed natural gas or propane fuels
DEARBORN, Mich., Dec. 7, 2011 – Budget cuts and financial restrictions are daily realities for city and town governments, so finding ways to save money is imperative.
Class 6 and 7 medium-duty trucks are the workhorses of municipal fleets, from single-axle dump trucks to highway plow trucks.
“The gas-engine F-650 is a highly capable truck that is Built Ford Tough without sacrificing comfort and fuel economy,” said Todd Kaufman, F-Series Chassis Cab Marketing manager.
The F-650 6.8-liter Pro-Loader with 19.5-inch wheels starts at $54,840 MSRP and the F-650 6.8-liter Dock Height with 22-inch wheels starts at $55,065. The average vehicle savings for an F-650 gas model compared to F-650 trucks with diesels is $8,300.
Power and flexibility
The 6.8-liter three-valve gas engine renders 362 horsepower and 457 lb.-ft. of torque. The engine couples with a Ford 6R410 six-speed transmission with double overdrive gears for improved fuel economy. Further, an optional gaseous fuel preparation package is available for conversion to compressed natural gas or propane fuels if desired, another option for fleets to lower their operating costs.
The all-new F-650 is Ford-designed and Ford-built with a new interior providing comfort unexpected in a work truck.
Enhanced connectivity
Now all 2012 Ford F-650 models will have available SYNC® technology to help keep drivers better connected without them having to divert their eyes from the road. Last month, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration issued a ruling prohibiting Interstate commercial truck and bus drivers from using hand-held electronics while behind the wheel. Ford SYNC allows drivers to communicate wirelessly without sacrificing safety

First Mercedes-Benz Sprinter City 77 Delivered

Roland Sabais, Head of Sales at Mercedes-Benz Buses and Coaches Western Region and Christian Winzenhöler, General Manager of the bus operator Winzenhöler

• Sprinter City 77: top-of-the-line city bus in the minibus range
• Bus operator: Winzenhöler

Stuttgart/Mannheim – The first Mercedes-Benz Sprinter City 77 was delivered to the customer on 5 December 2011. Roland Sabais, Head of Sales at Mercedes-Benz Buses and Coaches Western Region, Oliver Schlamp sales department at Mercedes-Benz Buses, Western Region and Mark Freymüller, Head of Sales and Marke¬ting at Mercedes-Benz Minibuses, handed over the symbolic key to Christian Winzenhöler, General Manager of the bus operator Winzenhöler. The decision-making criteria for the purchase of the Sprinter City 77 were its high passenger capacity despite very compact dimensions, its manoeuvrability and economic aspects.

With a length of 8.7 metres, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter City 77 is the current top-of-the-line city bus in the Mercedes-Benz minibus range. Like the body of the Sprinter City 77, the low-floor chassis with a tandem rear axle is an exclusive in-house development by the Mercedes-Benz Minibus product unit. With a passenger capacity of up to 40, it closes the gap between the Sprinter City 65 and the 10.5 m long Citaro K. Compared to the previous top model in this vehicle series, the Sprinter City 65, the Sprinter City 77 has around one metre more length – all to the benefit of the passenger area – ten additional passenger spaces, a continuous, level low floor in the passenger area and a second wheelchair space. It has this high transport capacity thanks to a permissible gross vehicle weight of 6.8 t.

The chassis of the three-axle Sprinter City 77 has an independent suspension all-round and single tyres. Thanks to its comparatively short wheelbase and slim dimensions, even this largest model in the Mercedes-Benz city minibus range is ideal for narrow inner-city streets. In addition the Sprinter City 77 is highly suitable as a shuttle ¬bus for airports and exhibitions, or for inter-urban operations.

Painted in arctic white, the Sprinter City 77 is powered by a 4-cylinder CDI diesel engine developing 120 kW (163 hp). A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment. Meeting the Euro V and EEV emission standards (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle), the Sprinter City 77 is set to be the most environmentally friendly bus in the Winzenhöler fleet. To cater for passengers with impaired mobility, a second wheelchair space with a folding ramp at door 2 was ordered in addition to the standard wheelchair space at door 1.

Bus operator Winzenhöler
The Winzenhöler bus company has been under family management for three generations, and employs around 50 personnel. With a fleet of 42 buses, Winzenhöler carries several thousand passengers in the Rhine-Main region. The vehicles operate both on regular routes and for excursions and special assignments.
