12' Steel Landscaper Body with Fold-Down Sides by Scelzi Enterprises

Here's a body built by Scelzi Enterprises of Fresno CA a few years ago that has some unique side work. This landscape body is made of steel including the sides and has two fold-down sections that are approximately half the height of the body on both sides. This allows shovel loading and hand loading of brush, clippings and more. The swing-away rear gate assembly opens to a fully coated interior to give more life to the inside area--and hey, it just looks good too. That's a good thing.

All of this is matched to a super reliable Rugby dump hoist and subframe and Scelzi's flatbed and finally a class IV receiver and trailer plug. Scelzi Enterprises is an excellent manufacturer and supplier with several outlets, while their large main plant is in Fresno, CA. See much more about Scelzi at www.SEinc.com

The State of Commercial Trucks and Construction Of New Texaco Station (1953)

Charles McGinnis Home Movie

This video is wonderful. It has no sound. It would be really cool with some music, but here's what I love about it:

This video shows the state of commercial trucks in 1953. You see the commercial pickup, light duty service body, heavy duty service body, dump body, cement truck, crane truck (watch the guy shinny up the boom several times), along with a good number of period cars. See the state of construction. Lots of men, no power tools. See the many hand saws in action, sledge hammer, digging out the concrete by hand. There's even plenty of dangerous stunts that were commonplace back then. It was called getting the job done and making it work with what there was to work with. Notice the cement truck front end going off the ground and three men jumping on it to try to bring it to earth unsuccessfully. Notice the active car wash. One man, a hose and a rag. Notice the service station attendant checking the oil, washing the windows while the bow-tied customer gets out for a stretch. Notice the supervisors and planner while the contractor draws on the board. It's just the way it was.

How ever much of it you might watch of the eleven minutes, you'll get a lot to see about the state of construction and commercial trucks in 1953. Enjoy.

GM Short Bed Dump Scissor Hoist Quality Tour

Briefing on the 99-10 GM short bed dump kit hoist scissor design and features

I ran across this video on YouTube and I have to say that it is almost mezmorizing--at least for me. I had no trouble watching all the way through and his voice is so relaxing, almost Zen-like. It is obvious that he has built quality into his product and that he is confident in it. I thought he did a great job even, and maybe especially because of the detail he is careful to point out.

Jeffrey Answers A Question On Cold Calling | Real World Sales Wisdom

Jeffrey,

Something that has never made sense to me, I'm required to make cold calls as part of my daily routine, at the same time, my bossman could not be more put out by people that cold call him throughout the day and I agree with him. Yet every morning starts out with the same old "Let's get smilin' and dialin!'" Smile for what? You don't even believe in what I'm doing!

-Scott

Scott,

Have your boss sit down next to you and make cold calls himself. And let him piss off the same people that you're pissing off. Let him see what a total waste of time cold calling is and how it affects your mood, how it affects your belief system, how it affects your personal pride, how it affects your attitude, and then start to call customers that you're already doing business with, customers who love you. And ask them if you can come over and help them out for an hour. Ask them if you can come over and talk about how your product is used. Ask them if you can come over and help build the relationship. Tell them you need to make a 'good will' visit. Those are the people who will invite you right in and talk to you for a half an hour and maybe help you earn a referral. That's where the money is in sales, not in cold calling. Cold calling pisses off your boss. Imagine what it does to your customers. Referrals. That's where the money is.

Best Regards,
Jeffrey

The transmission in the modern motorcar -- the mechanism that makes it possible to have three forward speeds and a reverse -- is a series of levers, levers that spin.

Ford Reveals All-New Global Transit and Transit Connect Commercial Vehicles

  • Ford unveils its new generation of Transit commercial vehicles, developed on all-new global platforms for sale in Europe, North America and other worldwide markets
  • Tough, functional and professional, the all-new Ford Transit brings a new level of capability and versatility to the medium commercial van market; it replaces the heavier two-tonne Transit in Europe and worldwide markets, and replaces the E-Series in North America
  • Stylish all-new Ford Transit Connect delivers outstanding performance across load carrying ability, dependability and fuel economy, for a best-in-class cost of ownership package

  • AMSTERDAM, Sept. 6, 2012 – Ford today revealed a new generation of world-class Transit commercial vehicles at its “Go Further” event.

Developed under its “One Ford” global product strategy in Europe, the Ford Transit and Ford Transit Connect models will be sold in Europe, North America and other worldwide markets, with product ranges tailored to the needs of customers in each region.

“These new products will carry more, work harder, last longer, and cost our customers less to operate – just as Ford Transits have done for 47 years,” said Barb Samardzich, vice president Product Development, Ford of Europe. “The unprecedented launch of two all-new Transit models will extend Ford’s leadership in serving commercial vehicle customers around the world.”

The introduction of the new generation Transit and Transit Connect models is a major step in Ford’s commitment to completely redesign its entire commercial vehicle line-up for Europe by the end of 2013.

Using the latest global platforms, the two models highlight Ford’s new approach to delivering the next generation of class-leading commercial vehicles to meet the needs of customers in all worldwide markets.

The new range builds on almost 50 years of experience in creating market-leading commercial vans and was engineered at Ford’s Centre of Excellence for commercial vehicles in Europe; applying global product development resources.

The all-new Ford Transit replaces the heavier two-tonne Transit derivatives in Europe and other worldwide markets, and will eventually replace the popular Ford E-Series range in North America. Tough, functional and professional, new Transit brings new levels of capability and versatility to the medium commercial van market.

Offering a comprehensive range of body styles and derivatives, with multiple wheelbases, roof heights and new chassis cowl versions, all-new and more capable Transit is tailored to the needs of key worldwide markets.

For Europe, a full range of Transit bodystyles and derivatives, offering front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, will be powered by the latest 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel.

In North America, customers can choose from several engines, including the proven 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 or a powerful diesel option; each features rear-wheel drive and at least 25 percent better fuel economy than a comparable E-Series. Multiple roof heights and wheelbases will be available. North American Transit vans will be manufactured in Kansas City, alongside the Ford F-150.

The stylish all-new Ford Transit Connect will deliver new standards for the sub-one-tonne segment for load-carrying ability, cost of ownership and dependability.

Available in a choice of short and long wheelbase versions, the new Transit Connect will offer European and North American customers the most flexible and functional loadbox in the segment, with a host of innovative features to enhance everyday productivity.

Transit Connect features the latest low-CO2 powertrain technologies to deliver best-in-class fuel economy in all of its target markets. In Europe, the engine line-up will include highly-efficient downsized diesel and petrol engines, while the U.S. market will benefit from a tailored range of gasoline powertrains.

The new model has a stylish cockpit with car-like design and craftsmanship, and offers the latest Ford interior technologies and driver assistance features.

The Ford Transit brand has established a legendary reputation for toughness and dependability, and the new global Transit products have been engineered to extend that tradition. Both the all-new Transit and all-new Transit Connect have been subjected to Ford’s ultra-stringent commercial vehicle testing and durability standards, covering millions of miles of arduous testing in laboratories, at proving grounds and on customer fleets.

“Our new global Ford Transit products will be totally fit for purpose,” said Samardzich. “These are the strongest, most capable and most efficient commercial vans we have ever built – this is the start of a new chapter in the Transit success story.”

In Europe, deliveries of the all-new Transit and Transit Connect are due to start by the end of 2013.
In North America, the all-new Transit and Transit Connect are scheduled to go on sale by the fourth quarter of 2013.

The two new global models join the Transit Custom in Ford’s renewed commercial vehicle line-up for Europe. Targeting the one-tonne market, the all-new Transit Custom is now on sale across European markets. It will not be introduced in North America but will be launched in other selected other global markets later.

Sortimo Organizes and Expands The Space In The Ford Transit Connect

The Ford Transit Connect is not a full size van, but you might be surprised how much you can do with the space it does have. With an economical and fuel-efficient 4-cylinder motor, the standard raised roof, the smaller footprint and excellent maneuverability, it's no wonder that the Ford Transit Connect is showing up on roads all over the United States.

Dealers tell me that the Transit Connect has been such a good selling unit that they have a hard time keeping much stock on their lot. With all the features of this great "little" van, it has become well accepted by the public, many of whom are looking for a more compact design and cost-effective and fuel-efficient alternative to the "big" vans.

Then, when you add the features of the Sortimo Globelyst in-vehicle equipment, the usefulness of the Transit Connect is now multiplied. When a space is really organized, it becomes a larger space than it appears to be. Keeping things safely in their place and making it easy to work on job sites with portable storage options, Sortimo is the world leader.

Ford Transit Custom 2012 - Safety

For the full story go to http://www.vansa2z.com/Ford-prioritises-safety-on-new-Transit-Custom.

Safety is an often overlooked aspect of van design, but Ford has raised the bar with its latest generation Transit, the one-tonne Custom. Split into three categories, safety encompasses Active (accident avoidance), Passive (in-accident protection for driver, passengers and pedestrians) and Tertiary (exiting the vehicle post accident) and Ford has addressed all three...

Miller Industries - Vulcan 812 Intruder II

Sink your teeth into www.MillerInd.com for more information!

Introducing the new Vulcan 812 Intruder II.

For more than 10 years, the Vulcan Intruder has been one of the most popular auto loaders for private property impounds, repossessions and commercial towers.

But at Miller Industries, simply building a great product that stands up to punishing, high-volume towing wasn't enough. Our engineers wanted more.

So they interviewed you, the customer, to find out what features and improvements would make your jobs easier. The end result is the new Intruder II.

The proceeding hook-ups were done for demonstration purposes only. In real-life towing situations, always install your safety straps and chains, as well as tow lights.

The Vulcan Intruder II is available with a stylish, impact-resistant composite modular body. It's also available with a carbon-steel or aluminum body.

The Intruder II features a new, redesigned tailboard that improves visibility between the boom and the subframe for easier hook-ups.

The hose tracking system on the Intruder II has also been completely revamped to provide longer hose life and easier maintenance.

The new, low-profile crossbar and jaws have also gone through a complete make-over for easier operation during hook-ups.

The new patent-pending crossbar pivot head assembly provides more surface area for longer life and smoother operation.

The new design also provides increased protection for the jaw cylinders by enclosing them into the crossbar and away from the elements.

The Intruder II claw design provides better grip on the tires. And, with both positive and negative tilt on the stinger, hooking up in a driveway or on an incline is a snap.

The limiter stop switches halt both the fold and boom elevation height at a predetermined height. For most hook-ups, simply bump the switch to override these controls.

The center section of the crossbar has been recessed for increased clearance to prevent damage to the vehicle's oil pan.

Check out the complete line of innovative, durable and brutally tough Vulcan equipment at
http://www.millerind.com/feature/index.php?bid=3 and find a local distributor in your area.

Red Highliner Mechanic's Service Body Steals The Show

Everyone knows that Commercial Truck Success loves red trucks, and then this beauty comes along! Wow! Alcoa Wheels too! Takes our breath away!

This very sharp red Harbor Highliner 11' service body is mounted on a Ford SuperDuty F450/550 Dually. This body has lots of storage space and extra features making it a very sharp work-ready truck!

The Harbor Truck Bodies Highliner Body is a TradeMaster Service Body with a set of boxes on top that have doors that open upward giving additional space for unique size storage. Because the doors open upward assisted with gas shocks, the items inside are easily seen. A great choice for someone needing a bit more storage in a great looking package!

Notice the slide out style drawers; they include a variety of heights for storage of tools and small parts. Easy to organize and easy to access and retrieve your parts. The drawers allow for access to many parts at the same time. The drawers lock into place individually and are secured by the outside horizontal door.

The bed area is covered with a 3-piece Cargo Bed Enclosure that opens up approximately 66% of the bed area. Cargo Bed Enclosures are very popular options that help keep cargo in the bed area out of sight and secure. The enclosure moves on Teflon pads and is so easy to slide.

The body is backed up with a 18" Work Platform. It is available on any Service Body and provides a great work area for work on the job site. It has a compartment with doors on each side. The platform provides a great mount and workspace for the heavy duty vise. This is a relatively inexpensive way to add some great workspace for those who use their truck in the field.

Harbor Truck Bodies can build a truck to meet your needs. Visit their website at www.htbi.net and call Harbor at 800-433-9452.
