This unit is built like a truck with a body-on-frame design with end-to-end bully boxed frame sections that optimize structural rigidity, yet it rides like a car with the De Dion suspension and self-leveling air system. It is built strong with a 6600 GVWR to accomodate the extra weight of wheelchiars and passengers.
The MV-1 will be assembled by AM General LLc in their high quality UAW assembly plant in Mishawaka, Indiana. AM General is a world leader in the design, engineering, production, and technical and parts support of military and special purpose vehicles. The MV-1 is also available in a dedicated Compressed Natural Gas option with a 250 mile range and still having best-in-class rear storage capacity of 29.1 cubic feet of cargo volume.
The standard manual ramp deploys from within the vehicle floor and has a load capacity of up to 1,200 lbs. There is an optional power telescoping ramp with up to a 6:1 slope, with simple push-button controls conveniently located on the door trim. Ramp lighting and anti-slip floor covering provides a valuable safety feature.
