First Isuzu’s Are In Capital Control At Eve

The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, together with the annual Virgin London Marathon, are just two of the recent events in London where brand new Isuzu 7.5t rigid trucks were working. The vehicles are owned by Eve, the UK's leading supplier of temporary access solutions, and provided some of the crowd control solutions at both of these well attended, high profile events.
Eve has just purchased its first ever Isuzu rigids for its 35-strong vehicle fleet. The company recognised that the standard 3 year warranty on the Isuzu truck range, together with good proven fuel economy and localised service support in the London area, were crucial factors in specifying the Isuzu marque for the first time.
Three new Isuzu Forward N75.190 rigid trucks, fitted with a crew cab and flatbed body, are now working for Eve on a long-term contract with the Metropolitan Police Service covering the distribution of crowd control barriers within Inner London.

All the vehicles have been supplied with Isuzu's popular Easyshift transmission and according to Paul Hargrave, transport and compliance manager at Eve, “With the three-year warranty as standard, we felt that Isuzu were demonstrating full confidence in the quality and performance of its vehicles. This reassurance, together with the fuel economy and localised service support provided, swung the balance in Isuzu's favour, replacing the incumbent Ivecos. Now we have the new Isuzus in service, they are easily handling the job requirements, whilst the compact footprint of the vehicle is proving to be ideal for those difficult access areas within Central London.”

All three vehicles were supplied by East Midlands Isuzu dealer t.i.m. Commercial Vehicle Services in Ilkeston, Derbyshire which is the nearest Isuzu truck dealership to the Eve head office in Chesterfield. As part of the vehicle acquisition programme, Eve has also agreed to a five-year repair and maintenance contract on these vehicles through the Isuzu truck dealership in Croydon, South London - Glenside Commercials.

“The overall package from Isuzu, with the support given by its two dealers, made Isuzu the final choice for us. The drivers are extremely pleased with the new vehicles, the Easyshift transmission will save us considerable wear and tear and we are now looking to run the vehicles for a five-year working life operating within a 50 km radius from our Wimbledon base,” added Paul Hargrave.

The debutant Isuzu 7.5 t rigids are being used for the distribution of crowd control barriers for marches, demonstrations, state visits, embassies, film premiers, football matches, sports events and even Royal Weddings, as part of Eve’s contracts with numerous customers including the Metropolitan Police Service. Paul Hargrave also recognised the payload flexibility of the Isuzu 7.5 t rigids saying; “With the Isuzus we can fit 4 stillages of crowd control barriers on each truck. Each stillage contains 30 barriers, which then allows us to carry 180 metres of barriers on just one vehicle.”

With the crew cab facility on the Isuzu chassis, up to 7 staff per vehicle can be dispatched early in the morning to the relevant event location to unload and position the crowd control barriers as well as assist in the unloading of other Eve vehicles on bigger events.

“The Isuzu 7.5t truck range ticks all the boxes for so many different types of company. For Eve, it’s a complete package over 5 years working in the challenging environment of the London conurbation. The versatility and fuel economy of the N75 model, backed-up by local, readily available dealer support, is key to the success of Eve’s operation,” said Keith Child, Marketing Director, Isuzu Truck (UK) Limited.
